I have been building models since the 1960's. Anything that could be bought was bought and then cannabalized into unusual cars etc. I had raced slot cars in 1967 at a local track and was addicted to the sport right from the beginning. Slot cars went out of fasion about then and video games took off. Eventually, I started building model train layouts and buildings for HO scale and N scale and found that I really liked building these more than anything else I'd worked with up til then. Well, digital slot cars are here, analog is back and I am going to design and build my line of structures for slot cars. I always felt that slot cars were like the red-headed step child and have been really neglected. It's time the hobby gets the attention it deserves.

Over the next year, I am going to create several models then create the negatives and positives for the molds. Unfortunately, I'll have to use latex and resin casting instead of injection molding because injection molds run about ten to twenty thousand dollars a piece! Each model would take two molds.

Resin casting is a couple of hundred dollars to start out with and then I can have master molds made for about $400.00. There is much to do and as it is a labor of love, these should turn out really nice. Costs will be dependent upon the amount of time to design and make the models, molds and castings.
