Things have changed for the better on my website
READ the IMPORTANT WEBSITE INFORMATION below!

I have several projects going at once including the full-time work on my master's degree in counseling. I rearranged the website for a number of reasons. The radio show is something I enjoy doing and I can't begin any of the slot car or train layout work until after the holidays. The kids get all the toys this time of year.

I will be creating the barrier and skirting for my track and around February, I ill begin building the hybrid SCX vinyl / wood track. That in itself will contain about a year of monthly updates. I also have to buy a router and router table, a table saw and  some other little goodies.

I don't guarantee anything except that I am going to make this work as well as I can the first time around without burning up my digital system. To that end, it's a first for anyone and the waters are dangerous!

The modelling end of my endevours is going to be exciting this year as well. I will be focusing on 1/32 scale models for my slotcar layout first - in case you were wondering. I feel that there are plenty of HO, N and other scale structures available so there is no need to rush into those scales with laser cutting or resin casting.

I will be creating trackside buildings, infield and control / pit row structures and act6ively seeking vehicles in 1/32 scale to go with our beloved slot car layout. What I need is YOUR HELP. Tell me what you would like to see at trackside and send any pictures you have.

Your input is greatly needed. Thanks Send Mike a comment here.

Welcome,

I'm Mike and over the next year, I will be creating new structures for 1/32 scale layouts. If you have a specific structure you think other racers would want on their layout, send me the details so I can try to build it. Pictures and basic measurements are a must.

General Info

Vette Icon

I am in the midst of creating new models for 1/32 slot car layouts. I won't be making molds for stadium seating and if anyone out there knows of a company (besides Carrera) that makes the stadiums, please contact me ASAP.

I will be making master molds of buildings for towns and cities. I found that there are few models for rally layouts and I decided to make my own.

Using resin to make castings of my models, i'll be able to make them affordably. Watch my site site for updates as the molds and castings reach completion and become available.

Thanks for your business, Mike

Metric Convertor

Trying to figure out metric to U.S. Standard scale? Here's a couple of convertors. Once you get the "inches" just divide by 12 to get feet or look below for the cm to feet convertor.

Model Picture Criteria

Pictures MUST include location, all walls outside, the roof and any details that make it unique. These could be the name on the building, a sign in a store window, architectual detail and so on.

Measurements are also needed or at least something I can reference it against. Walk heel to toe and tell me how many steps for each wall and estimate the height of the roof.

Ultimately, simplicity is the key.

If your building is choosen, I will send you a model FREE!

E-mail me at: with the pictures and measurements. Thanks, Mike

What's New

F1 Icon

I changed this section to "What's New!" today because I felt it more fitting to put up-to-date info on the front page.

For my visitors from around the world,

click here. Please translate your email to English or tell me what language it is in before you send me a message. Thank you.

I have posted some info on my blog and on Slotcarillustrated's blog about creating barriers for my digital SCX track. I will post pictures and a "How-To" on this site for making these and for creating the hybrid SCX vinyl to MDF wood digital layout and track. If you have comments, please send them to me here or better, post them on my blog. I will translate foreign language posts as much as possible so all can share our sport / hobby together.

Please submit large works here to my email (I reserve the right to edit and post as I choose or necessary to fit alotted space) or contribute your ideas, thoughts, comments and (constructive only) criticism if you see something posted that you may know more about than I.

I certainly do not know it all so by all means, share.

Cars: Does anyone know how to repair the chips in a car when they go bad and the guide stops working?

Does anyone know where to get car bodys without paint so I can switch them out as I choose?

Does anyone know how to correct the stock-cars from being really loose in the corners? Mine keep spinning out. I adjusted the magnet closer to the track but that barely made a difference.

Does anyone know where to get decals for our cars?

This Month's Layout Project

This month I'll be making nice looking and cheap road barrier walls and skirting for my layout. Check back after December to see the how-to article complete with pictures. It's going to be posted a little late due to Christmas shopping etc. so keep checking back.
Thanks.

About my SCX 1/32 track

Ford Shelby GT Mustang Icon

I recently got my SCX set via UPS. I chose the 3 car GT set with the pit set up. I added an extra set of straight track (I thought I'd bought 4 sets but I guess I forgot to change it to 4 in the quantity box.

Good thing because i couldn't have used it. What I needed was lots of inner and outer curves.

Read and see more here

I first decided what I wanted the track to eventually look like. I measured my basement space and determined I could put in a 5 foot x 12 foot wood table. I have also planned for a twenty foot table addition five feet wide. The final track will be about 100'overall when completed and it will eventually have a coastal road zig-zagging down a mountain into a town and back to the control tower and pits.

I made the table 30" in height like my dining room table so I could sit and race for hours without my back problems giving me grief.

I used standard metal construction connectors which worked out great overall. I still have to ad cross bracing for support but otherwise, the table is strong enough to stand on (my 13 year old climbed on it to get the car! )

My site has tech tips, videos of SCX layouts, my track info and of course, my progress on my designs and manufacturing of those models. Ask any questions or drop a line, or send video and pictures with a link. I'll post it here.

Model Structure Contest

See the full-size video here.

This video has a great layout with lots of models, scenery etc. I plan to do the same for my layout and reproduce the structures for other people's layouts around the world.
